Step 1: Form Team

Join with others at your college — assessment center, instructional faculty, counseling, IT, Research & Administration — to establish an assessment implementation team.

Identify your college adoption date.

Schedule regular meetings from now until implementation.

Find sample meeting agendas under the Documents tab.

Step 2: Analyze Current Resources

Review your current processes.

The current procedures will be a frame of reference as you convert to CCCAssess and create new processes.

Analyze your staff and technology resources. You can work with your administrative team to apply for a grant to fund some of the additional needs to convert your assessment center to using CCCAssess.

Step 3: Apply for Funding

Be sure that the effort to apply for funds is coordinated internally.

Step 4: Compare Course Outlines to Competencies

Your Instructional Faculty can map the competencies in the CCCAssess test to local college courses by following the tutorial and using mapping spreadsheets.

Step 5: Get Trained

Attend a regional professional development session.

Review webinars.

Step 6: Leverage Data

Your Research team will work on the validation model, comparison to the Chancellor’s standards and determine how best to utilize dashboard reports.

Step 7: Prepare for Transition

With the implementation team, craft your definition of success.

Set specific goals that will guide your team in successfully adopting CCCAssess.

Develop a timeline to be sure that your college meets the adoption deadline.

Testing centers will need to meet readiness requirements for using CCCAssess and become registered as a certified test site.

Develop a communication plan to be sure that students and all the departments that will use assessment results are aware of CCCAssess.

Step 8: Reach Out

Implement the student communication plans developed in the previous step.

Communicate about CCCAssess to the campus community based on the plan developed in the step above.

Keep the CAI team apprised of your progress and ask for support as needed.

Step 9: Plan Your Launch

Determine the local placement model.

Verify score uploads to centralized CCC.

Offer staff and faculty a practice test so they are familiar with how CCCAssess looks and feels.

Collect feedback from both your team and the students. Ask for help from CCCAssess as issues and questions arise.

Step 10: Start Assessing

Once you have a bit of experience with the new CCCAssess, revise your procedures to reflect the new process.

Officially transition to the new assessment and use it with students.

Step 11: Debrief CCCAssess Implementation

Communicate with CCCAssess about unmet needs that you discover during implementation. Your feedback can help formulate the next version of the platform so we are very interested in your comments and suggestions.

Identify challenges at your campus and come up with an action plan to overcome those challenges. Please share those with CCCAssess because your experience can help other colleges anticipate this challenge and seek ways to address it before implementation.
